What is a VTCT approved centre?
VTCT Skills is one of the main awarding organisations for beauty, hair, nails, aesthetics and complementary therapy qualifications in the UK. To deliver and certificate VTCT Skills qualifications, your academy has to be approved as a VTCT Skills centre.
Centre approval also matters for funding: the DfE's Advanced Learner Loans rules require providers to hold direct centre approval from the awarding organisation.
How does VTCT centre approval work?
This is how VTCT Skills describes the process on its own site:
- Decide which qualifications you want to deliver and review VTCT's documents: the Approval Visit Criteria, the Centre Qualifications Requirements and the Centre Agreement.
- Submit the online "become a centre" enquiry. VTCT assigns a dedicated account manager to review your enquiry and support you through the application.
- Complete the full application with your account manager.
- Approval visit. VTCT carries out a physical visit to evaluate your premises, which must be permanent.
VTCT says simple applications that don't need a visit can be processed in as little as five working days, and it aims to process more complex applications within 2–4 weeks.
